My Journey in the World of Software and English

Imagen
Hello to all the readers of this blog. I’m Erika, and I’m currently studying a Technologist Program in Software Analysis and Development at SENA. As part of my training, I’m also learning English. That’s why I created this blog to share my experience studying at SENA, especially my journey in learning this new language. To learn English, I have designed a strategy using the tools provided by the SENA platform. These include materials for learning vocabulary and grammar, spaces like forums and quizzes to develop my writing skills, as well as video and audio evidence. Below, I will show you a mind map with my strategy.

To improve my reading skills in English, the SENA platform provides me with a wide variety of materials on different topics. This allows me to learn vocabulary, grammar, and many other relevant aspects of the language. Additionally, it’s very enjoyable because the materials are friendly, up-to-date, and I really enjoy using them. Writing is even more enjoyable because there are forums where I can participate, and my teacher corrects me if I make mistakes. Additionally, I have quizzes with multiple attempts that allow me to correct my mistakes independently.

Listening and Speaking: My Strategy for Learning English

To practice my listening skills in English, I can use the materials on the platform, my virtual classes with the SENA teacher and I also rely on YouTube videos and some podcasts. It’s a fun and varied way to improve my listening comprehension! I feel happy and proud of myself when I present my video and audio evidence in the spaces provided by the platform. I think it’s an excellent resource that all self-taught English learners should have!

When it comes to understanding other cultures, it allows us to look beyond prejudice and stereotypes. Thanks to critical thinking, we can appreciate what makes each culture unique, understand its customs, and value its traditions without judging at first sight. Instead of accepting everything as it is presented to us, critical thinking encourages us to question, learn, and reflect. It’s like a passport that opens the door to new perspectives and teaches us to be more empathetic and respectful toward others! In this way, we not only better understand cultures, but also enrich ourselves as people by seeing the world from different angles. Being able to see the world with a critical mind while learning English is one of the most exciting things happening to me. As I study the language, I realize how many new perspectives I can discover. Every ...
